The Way of the Lucky Sardine

What is the "Way of the Lucky Sardine?" It's simple, really. I tell people that after having spent decades working in companies for other people, I found a new life and "way" when I moved to Portugal. Feeling good and even calm as I sat one evening staring over a beautiful valley sipping on a wonderfully aromatic and bold red wine, I realized that I was "lucky." 

 

In Portugal, they love to eat sardines. Millions of them each year get swooped up by nets and end up on grills, and in cans. Having escaped "corporate life," I realized that I was like a "Sardine" that had escaped the fisherman's net. I became that "Lucky Sardine." 

 

The "Way of the Lucky Sardine" is the route my family and I travel through this marvelous and little-explored country as we seek out the best, most unique, and most unknown wines the country has to offer. Follow us as we journey through villages, down small mountain paths to hidden vineyards, and onto beaches where grapes grow just inches off the sand resulting in taste-portfolios most wine-lovers cannot even imagine.
